Orphan Drug Development: Medical Marketing Perspective

       Medical Marketing & Media’s November 2012 issue has an interesting article titled, “Private View: Orphan Diseases”, by Mike Hodgson, Partner & Chief Creative Officer at Cambridge BioMarketing. Cambridge BioMarketing is a global healthcare marketing and communications agency working with orphan products.         

         Several examples of orphan products and their ads are reviewed in terms of the orphan and rare disease community’s special wants, needs, and requirements :

–  Pfizer’s Benefix for Hemophilia B 

–  Takeda Millennium’s Velcade for cancer 

–   Acorda Therapeutics’ Ampyra for Multiple Sclerosis.
