FDA Orphan Drug Designations Granted: 2014 In Review

This Blog Post compares the number of FDA Orphan Drug Designations (ODDs) granted in 2013 versus the number of FDA ODDs granted in 2014.

The chart below identifies the number of FDA ODDs for each month of 2013 and 2014, and the percent change.

OBSERVATIONS

•   Increase in the # of FDA ODDs granted every month from 2013 to 2014, except for January, March, September, & November

•   In 2014, October had the largest # of FDA ODDs granted of 31

•   Overall increase of approximately 10 %   in the # of FDA ODDs granted for 2014 compared to 2013.
